The Hockenheimring holds Grade 1 certification from the FIA
The Hockenheimring is one of only a few race tracks in the world that fulfil the highest safety standards and have been certified Grade 1 by the FIA. In order to stay in this category, the tracks have to pass regular inspections by the International Automobile Federation.
In early 2022, Race Director Scot Elkins visited the Hockenheimring to make a detailed inspection of the track to check whether the Grand Prix circuit continues to fulfil the requirements of top international motor sport in terms of safety and performance. The Hockenheimring was granted the FIA Grade 1 track licence until 2025. This is an important requirement in order to be able to welcome the most important racing series, including Formula 1.
