THE RACE FOR THE FUTURE HAS BEGUN

The CO2 content in the atmosphere is breathing down humanity’s neck; economic and political challenges are looming in our path and new technologies are gaining unprecedented momentum. The field is so complex and the upheavals are greater than ever before. It’s going to be quite a race! And we are right in the middle of it.

CLEAN EARLY START

If you don’t want to be left behind in this race, you should consistently renew your strategies. Not an easy task, but we have long since accepted the challenge and expanded our economic responsibility to include social and ecological sustainability. All three facets have determined our thoughts and actions for years.

CONSTANT PERFORMANCE

Our traffic lights have been green for a long time: We promote the topics of waste avoidance and separation, CO2 reduction and energy efficiency. In addition, there is the careful use of resources, responsible noise emissions, careful data protection and accessibility as well as support for charity and social projects as part of our CSR commitment – and we have so much more planned. Because for us it means: Clear the Ring for environmental and safety innovations.

WE HAVE THE GREATEST OPPORTUNITIES AS A TEAM

Our key success factors include transparency and proactive communication with the city administration, residents, interest groups and authorities. It is only through mutual understanding and trust that we can find joint solutions to powerfully drive change and win the race in our favour.

WE HAVE REACHED THE FIRST MILESTONES

By obtaining ISO 14001 certification, we have put our company to the test and demonstrated that we have established an environmental management system that implements environmental protection and resource efficiency in the areas of motorsport, major events and event management. This is also reflected in the certification for energy management in accordance with ISO 50001.

  • Certification for environmental management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2015
  • Certification for energy management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001:2018

FOLLOW THE RACE LIVE

Sustainability is a dynamic process that requires continuous adaptation and innovation. This is why we want to make this platform a lively space – for all new ideas, initiatives, partnerships and projects. With this in mind: Take the curve more often and see what’s going on here!

Sustainability policy of the Hockenheimring

The Hockenheim Ring Baden-Württemberg is one of the most famous and traditional race tracks in the world. Since the opening of the race track in 1932, countless motorsport events have taken place on the circuit in south-west Germany.

Event highlights such as Formula 1 have made the Hockenheim Ring internationally famous. In addition to motor racing, the Hockenheim Ring is also known as a venue for large open-air concerts.

As a multifunctional event location, the race track facilities can be used for a wide range of occasions, e.g. for industrial and motorsport tests, driving training and experiences, workshops and conferences, product presentations, incentives and congresses.

As an operating company, Hockenheim-Ring GmbH is aware of its socio-political and ecological responsibility and is committed to sustainable corporate management as part of its strategic and operational business activities.

Our endeavours to protect and improve the environment and our social commitment to the region and society are in harmony with the company’s economic interests and opportunities.

Precisely because our core business is subject to many criticisms with regard to the consumption of resources and the generation of emissions, we have been implementing environmental sustainability measures for many years and are committed to continuously improving our environmental performance.

With our 90 years of expertise in international motor racing, we have always been a driver of innovation in aspects of safety and would now like to use our strength in this tradition to tackle current and future environmental challenges. In this way, we want to ensure that we can continue to share our passion for motorsport with millions of fans and continue to offer the automotive industry a test platform for further environmental and safety innovations in the future.

With our reputation, that extents into the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and far beyond, it is a matter of course for us to take responsibility not only for the environment, but also for society and individuals. Our actions are always subject to the principles of equal treatment, anti-discrimination, equal opportunities and accessibility.

For us, it is a fundamental concern to minimise the impact of our core business, racetrack operations, on our surroundings. Our efforts not only relate to topics such as waste avoidance, CO2 reduction and energy efficiency, but above all to limiting noise emissions. Not only do we fully comply with our official licence, and can & must prove this with measurement protocols, but we also remain below the permitted operating time windows as part of a voluntary self-restriction and are nowhere near exploiting emission quotas of the loudest noise class.

We also fulfil our social responsibility through a wide range of CSR commitments, such as supporting clubs as well as charity and social projects.

As a company that comes into contact with several hundred thousand people a year as part of its various events, we also take our duty of care with regard to data protection particularly seriously. It applies not only to the protection of our own company data, but also to the protection of the personal data of employees, customers, suppliers and partners.

The greatest possible transparency and proactive communication in dialogue with the city administration, residents, interest groups and authorities ensure that mutual understanding and trust can be built and joint solutions developed.
