Sustainable Mobility, Electromobility

INSTALLATION OF CHARGING STATIONS

Installation of over 20 charging points for the public by mid-2024 as well as various charging points for the company fleet

Locations: Close to the Welcome Centre/Hotel Motodrom, paddock, opposite the administration, etc.

E-VEHICLE FLEET

Company vehicles were initially converted to hybrid vehicles with the aim of further expanding the vehicle fleet in terms of e-mobility and reducing the petrol fleet to a minimum. E-scooters are increasingly being used at events.

PROMOTION OF EVENTS FOR E-VEHICLES

The Hockenheim Ring is the venue for e-mobility events.

Examples of events:

  • e4 Testival – unique event all about new mobility with a focus on self-driving and experiencing electric vehicles with 2 and 4 wheels.
  • ADAC 24h e-Competition – long-distance competition for cars (in standard condition) with fully electric drive over 24 hours.

PROMOTION OF SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL

  • BwegtPlus is a partner campaign initiated by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport on the subject of sustainability and climate in Baden-Württemberg, which combines leisure activities with sustainable mobility and thus climate protection. The Hockenheim Ring has been a partner of the campaign since 1 August 2023 and rewards sustainable travel by offering a discount in the fan shop. The cooperation programme has been actively used since its introduction.

  • In line with the motto better.twogether, the Hockenheimring and the ADAC commuter network are taking a joint approach to sustainable spectator mobility. The aim is to promote carpooling among fans using the “ADAC Pendlernetz powered by twogo” app and thus reduce CO2 emissions when travelling to and from the event. Motorsport events are often not easily accessible by public transport. This is why many fans use their own car to get to the event. Carpooling is an effective way to maintain flexibility when travelling to the event and reduce the number of cars at the same time.
