Hockenheimring once again awarded FIA’s highest sustainability accreditation
Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg continues to rank among the world’s leading motorsport and event venues in the field of sustainability. In July 2026, following a successful re-certification audit, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) renewed the Hockenheim-Ring GmbH’s FIA Three-Star Environmental Accreditation for a further two years. Having first received this designation in 2024, the renewed accreditation confirms the continuous development of the company’s sustainability strategy and its ongoing compliance with the highest standards of the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme. By renewing the award, the FIA recognizes the Baden-based circuit’s long-term commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability, as well as the consistent progress of its initiatives under the “Lights on Green – Our Race for Change” programme.

High standards confirmed
During the audit, all key areas of environmental management were comprehensively assessed. These included corporate governance, energy efficiency, resource and waste management, sustainable mobility, biodiversity, as well as noise and emissions management.
In its audit report, the FIA concluded: “Hockenheim-Ring GmbH demonstrated a mature and well-established approach to environmental management, supported by certified management systems and a structured sustainability programme. The audit assessed compliance with all seventeen FIA Three-Star categories based on the submitted documentation. Overall, the organization demonstrated strong governance, effective environmental controls and a clear commitment to continual improvement.”
The FIA particularly acknowledged the circuit’s environmental and energy management systems, certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2015 and DIN EN ISO 50001:2018, the implementation of intelligent monitoring solutions, and its longstanding commitment to protecting the strictly protected Crested Lark population in the area surrounding Hockenheimring. The expansion of the venue’s photovoltaic infrastructure and its sustainable procurement processes also formed part of the evaluation.
