Industrietempel from Mannheim presents ‘Final Coal Sparkling – The Journey to the Ring’

On 11 and 12 July 2025, the Hockenheimring will be the setting for an extraordinary science fiction spectacle.

The starting point of the theatre tour is the Mannheim Kunstverein. Here, the audience will board large RNV articulated buses. The performance begins when the tour guides welcome the guests on board the buses. The year is 2228 and the sea level has risen. The rest of the land is largely uninhabitable. Most people live on huge cruise ships that are constantly dodging the storms. Everything is available on board. But the passengers long for shore excursions. Noa-Tours organises such excursions. Today we are travelling to a legendary cult site from the 21st century near Hockenheim – the Ring. The ‘Motodrom’ is where daring races in combustion-powered vehicles are said to have taken place in the past. On this night, the natives celebrate the ‘Final Coal Sparkling’ rite, in which paraffin, diesel and petrol are ceremoniously burnt to the accompaniment of chants. The shamans thus recall their ancestors’ belief in unlimited growth.
